Frequently Asked Questions about Live-in Care

Live-in care is a service where professionally trained carers live alongside clients in their  home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Clients will receive one-to-one compassionate care at home, including support with personal care, medication supervision and companionship.  Most carers will spend 2-3 weeks at a time with a client but this could be longer depending on individual client needs and carer availability.

The recruitment team at Live-Well will organise for a DBS check as part of our recruitment process.  We will send you a link and checks are completed online; we are also on hand if you need any assistance. If you are already on the DBS update service, you will need to provide us with a share code so we can carry out our own checks.

We welcome UK and international carers who have either professional or personal experience of caring for someone.  Many of our professional carers live across Europe, Africa and other continents, where they can have a balanced lifestyle of working in the UK and splitting time between rewarding work and enjoying their life. You will just need to provide us with your Right to Work in the UK.

You must be able to provide us with proof of your right to work in the UK.  To be eligible, you must have either a British passport, settled status or pre-settled status as part of the EU settlement scheme, or hold a current visa that allows you to work in the UK with no restrictions.  You may also have to provide a share code to validate your documents.

Please note we cannot assist with any sponsorship or visa requests – including those applying for a health and social care visa.

On successful completion of the application process, we will invite you to attend an online interview via secure link.  You can do this in the comfort of your own home – please note this will be recorded for training purposes.

Most bookings with clients will be 2-3 weeks at a time but occasionally it could be for long weekends or one-week bookings.  This means you can have a very positive work / life balance.  Every year we ask that you commit to working for a minimum of 12 weeks over a 12 month period.  If you are looking to balance a live-in care role and valuable time off with family and friends, we would love to hear from you.

The recommended rates of pay start from £130.00 per day, depending on the complexity of care required by each client. In addition, you can expect a £12 call charge for each time you get up to help a client during the night.  The client will also pay your travel to and from their home.

The client will provide you with your own private bedroom and access to a bathroom and other facilities.

Yes, your client will include you in the household budgets so that there will be food available for both you and your client. Whilst full board is provided in each booking, if you have specific dietary requirements, you may be expected to supply your own food, where necessary.

Once you have successfully completed our recruitment process, we will invite you to attend a 4-day training programme at a location of your choice.  We are very fortunate to be able to offer several locations throughout England so that you can attend training as soon as possible.

Please call our recruitment team on 01732 441877 or email [email protected] and we will guide you through the recruitment process.  Once we have established your eligibility and your professional / personal care experience we will send you an application form.  On successful completion of your application, we will then arrange a video interview. If you pass the interview stage you will then be invited to attend our 4 -day training program at a location convenient to you.

Once you have successfully passed the training program, one of the Eleanor Live-Well team will offer you work (bookings) based on your skills and availability.  Carers should be proactive and keep in regular contact with the team to secure as much work as they require.
