Home Care

Eleanor nursing and social care provides you with personalised care and support services in your own home.

What is Home Care?

Home Care is all about your personalised support to get up and about in the morning, support to take your medication at the right time, help you move around the house and even to feed your pets. There are a variety of services available for you to choose from.

It is the comfort of receiving the support you need in your very own home by the professional caregivers to manage your mornings with your personal care needs, preparing your meals, managing your weekly shopping, your domestic cleaning, and even take you out for routine walks and appointments. You have the opportunity to enjoy companionship services to combat loneliness, which is a growing challenge in the UK where more than 2.5 million people are reported that they felt lonely often or always, especially during the recent lockdown times. By pairing yourself with a holistic companion who complements your personality and goals, you’ll benefit from the support of a compassionate person who will be there to help you fulfil your potential.

These services can be arranged based on your requirement from one hour a day to 24 hours and as many visits as you would require a week. No two visits are the same. We work with you and your family to get it right.

Our service is flexible, and we match the care that you require and the care worker to you. Every visit starts with an assessment of what you need. These assessments are pre-planned and can be reviewed as per the changes of your needs.

Personal care and support

We can provide as much personal care and support as you require. Our person-centred approach means we tailor our services to your individual requirements, lifestyle and budget. This enables you or your loved one to remain independent at home.

Our flexible home care services include:

  • Personal care including washing, bathing, showering, toileting and continence management
  • Assistance with morning and bedtime routines
  • Preparing or assisting with meal and drink preparation
  • Light household tasks such as dusting, laundry, washing up and vacuuming
  • Financial matters, where help is needed to pay regular bills or set up payments
  • Grocery shopping and collecting prescriptions
  • Companionship services
  • Accompanying services, for visits to family and friends, doctors, dentists or for social activities

Live-in care

If you or a loved one have more complex needs, we can arrange for full-time, live-in carers, so that support and assistance are always on hand. Our live-in care services are designed to help you enjoy maximum quality of life, in the familiar surroundings of your own home.

Live-in care can often be the next step if you have already been receiving daily care visits but are finding that you need support when you’re on your own. Perhaps you are becoming less mobile or have a condition that changes over time, such as Parkinson’s or arthritis.

For however long we provide you with live-in support, you will have peace of mind knowing that someone is always on hand, day and night. Some people choose live-in care as an alternative to moving into a residential or care home.

We can also provide sleep-in services, so that if you just need extra help at night, there is someone there to support you.

Reablement

Perhaps you or a loved has had a short or prolonged stay in hospital. Our reablement services help you whilst you are in recovery. Our carers are specially trained to support you to regain independence and confidence after illness, a stroke, an accident or surgery. We can also offer short-term live-in support to assist whilst you build your health and mobility. Reablement is an approach that, regardless of diagnosis, aims to assist you or your loved ones to adapt and continue to live as they wish, enabling to do ordinary activities like cooking meals, washing, dressing, moving about the home and going out.

The reablement approach supports you or your loved ones to do things for themselves. It is the ‘doing with’ approach, in contrast to the traditional ‘doing for’ approach.

Reablement services are usually provided in the comfort of your own home. Consistency of this service is important to enable a relationship to be built with your caregivers and for progress to be properly monitored.

Reablement services are often used to support discharge from hospital, prevent or reduce readmission and enable an individual to remain living at home, promoting and maintaining independence.

Specialist care

Our team are fully trained in specialist care, allowing us to support people with complex health needs, Alzheimer’s and dementia. Whether you are seeking help for a partner, relative or friend, or have recognised that you need support yourself; we are committed to enabling you or your loved one to continue enjoying an active and independent life.

Alzheimer’s and dementia present unique challenges that our specially trained staff have the knowledge and experience to support you through. We provide tailored support designed to maintain daily living skills and address memory and concentration issues. This can often include detailed plans for daily routines and sensory stimulation.

If you have learning disabilities, we can provide assistance with personal care and tasks around the home; as well as support to socialise or access leisure, education, volunteering and employment opportunities. We work with you to understand your wants, needs and reactions in various situations. From here we can identify verbal and non-verbal communication techniques that you or your loved one are comfortable with.

Domestic home help

Time is precious and sometimes there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do everything you need to. Particularly if you are not as mobile as you used to be or your health has deteriorated. A helping hand to keep your home and garden the way you like them can make all the difference.

Our flexible services enable us to help you with a wide range of tasks around the house. From an annual spring clean to a regular weekly visit, our domestic home help enables you to have more free time for relaxing with your family, meeting friends or getting on with your hobbies and interests.

Domestic cleaning services

Cleaning is any activity that’s part of maintaining cleanliness in the home on a daily basis. Domestic cleaning has come along way from the days of beating a rug hung up outside on the laundry line but remains physically demanding. Domestic cleaning covers all your living spaces, Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms keeping them clean and tidy for your peace of mind. If you consider an average of three hours professional cleaning once a week, it immediately becomes apparent this could never include all that’s needed to keep any house completely clean. However, a reliable and consistent cleaning service can go a long way to ensuring your home is kept in good condition.

Blitz cleaning services

A Blitz Clean is a customizable, deep cleaning of your household. Depending on your requests, the condition of your home, and your budget, it may take several visits from the cleaning operatives before any appreciable changes are noticed. Blitz cleaning covers;

  • High/low dusting throughout,
  • Window cleaning throughout,
  • Vacuuming throughout,
  • Disinfecting,
  • Deep clean sinks, baths, and commodes
  • Deep cleaning trash cans from spills and leaks,
  • Sweep, mop and/or wash hard surface floors and many more. An assessment to be done prior to the service to plan the required hours/days for the cleaning and the cost

Shopping services

Your weekly shopping could be an essential part of your lifestyle but can also be a long and laborious process that many could do without. We help you with picking up a few essential items and can even accompany you to large supermarkets. Not only this, a casual day out browsing your local shops can be an even more enjoyable activity when there’s someone to share this with

Palliative care (End of life care)

End of life care is to support your loved ones in the later stages of a life limiting condition to live as well as possible until their end of time. End of life care may last for weeks, months or occasionally years

End of life care supports the person to live as well as possible until their last moment of breath. It supports all aspects of their wellbeing, especially their physical needs (including pain relief and management of other symptoms). The arrangement of care should consider every aspect like how they are feeling, their relationships with their family, their spiritual beliefs and needs etc. For many people to have a good end of life, being treated with compassion and respect, being kept clean, comfortable, and free from distressing symptoms and being in a familiar place surrounded by those close to them is very important.

It can be distressing to see how a terminal illness is affecting a loved one. We help you by providing specialist palliative care support so your family can make the most of your time together. Palliative care at home allows the individual to stay in the place where he or she feels most comfortable, surrounded by memories and the people they love.

Whether you are looking for a full-time live-in carer or regular visits from a local care team, we provide the full range of services for palliative care that follows the national palliative care guidelines. The support covers all aspects of care including personal care, pain management, administering medication, cooking meals, companionship and help moving around the home, housekeeping and all care at home services supporting independent living at home until the end.
